Claire Smith Announces New Restaurant - Canopy
Claire Smith and Russell Murrell have announced their new restaurant called Canopy.
They will continue to operate their other restaurant, Shade, in the Heights.
"Canopy will offer a comfortable, relaxed and fun atmosphere with three seating areas; a bright and refreshing dining room, festive bar and side street patio. We will eventually offer curbside "to go" service. Similar to Shade, we are aiming for a neighborhood feel for local "regulars" as well as a great choice for destination diners."
Location: 3939 Montrose, Houston (where Tony's Ruppe's used to be)
Soft-opening scheduled for near the end of November.
Will be open 7 days a week with table service for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
Canopy will offer counter-service and "grab-n-go" coffee and fresh baked pastries for breakfast.
A private dining/meeting space will be available for on-site events.
Canopy will also offer full service catering for off-site events.
Canopy will offer fresh, seasonal and healthy fare created by Claire Smith.
David Luna, executive chef for Shade will be the EC for Canopy too.
Canopy's cuisine will range from casual to sophisticated, complimented by a value driven wine program managed by Sean Jensen.
Canopy will also feature creative dessert selections by pastry chef Rebecca Masson, in-house production of artisan breads and additional bakery items from long time Shade bakers Heath Reichert and William Carlisle.
