Closed: Bob's Steak & Chop House Houston

I spoke with Marijke Shugrue, manager of Bob's Steak & Chop House, and it's official,
the restaurant closed its Houston location today.
They opened in April 2007 and lasted about 15 months.
Why did they close?
There was not enough business to support them.
Carnivores have a plethora of choices when it comes to consuming high quality beef in Houston.
Some of the other steak houses in Bob's immediate area that I can think of are:
.Morton's
.Sullivan's
.Del Frisco's
.Capital Grille
.Omaha Steak House in the Sheraton
.Pappas Bros.
.Ruth's Chris
.The Palm
And then downtown:
.Morton's
.Strip House
.Vic & Anthony's
.Shula's in the Hyatt
When Bob's opened in Houston in April 2007, someone arrogantly said that the location alone would guarantee success because they moved into Tony's former location at 1801 Post Oak Boulevard.
Shugrue said that Mo's ... A Place for Steaks, would be opening at 1801 in about six months.
See our entry about Mo's here.
Shugrue also told me that most of Bob's employees were able to find other jobs. If there are any displaced workers who need a job, send me your resume and I will try to help you find something. We'll keep an eye on the Mo's story for you and get you details. Stay tuned.
