National Association of Catering Executives Celebrate 50th Anniversary - Houston Included
The National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) will celebrate its 50th anniversary with “A Celebration of the Decades” on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Houston's Westin Hotel.
Guests are encouraged to attend the event dressed in attire from their favorite decade - since the 1950s. Attendees will enjoy the food, drinks and entertainment that have defined the last 50 years of the catering and special events industries.
Across the country, more than 40 chapters in as many cities, including Houston, will host events on Tuesday, June 3rd to recognize the beginning of NACE. The Association was founded on June 3, 1958 in New York City, and was originally named the Banquet Managers Guild. Since then, NACE has grown to over 4,000 members and remains the oldest and largest professional association dedicated to all aspects of the catering industry.
"NACE has played such an important role in keeping us advised of the trends in catering over the years," said Margery Reinheardt, director of catering for the Hilton Post Oak. "How wonderful to have an opportunity to experience and taste some of the highlights from the last 50 years of our business."
Ms. Reinheardt is co-chair for this special event and has been a Member of NACE since 1992.
Event co-chair Gary P. Baumann, director of catering for the Intercontinental Hotel Houston, was a founding member of the Houston Chapter in 1992. Gary notes, "NACE has been an incredible part of my life. I have grown professionally from the education that NACE has supplied me over the years
through incredible educational conferences and personally from the extended family it has provided me."
Jeremie Millwee, Houston chapter president and director of catering for the Petroleum Club, adds, "NACE has provided the hospitality industry with new and exciting trends, amazing educational programs and dedication to its membership. NACE members are a team, and include everyone from entertainment agencies to caterers to the suppliers of the china that the meal is served on! I am proud to be a part of an organization that is at the forefront of supplying the hospitality industry with so much knowledge and so many resources. NACE is growing stronger each year and this 50th Year Celebration is a simple 'Thank You' to each member here in Houston and across the country for all the years of dedication and teamwork."
The Houston chapter of NACE’s "Celebration of the Decades" will be held June 3, 2008 from 6 to 10 p.m.
at The Westin Galleria Hotel, 5060 West Alabama, Houston, Texas 77056.
